From Left: Ron Zammit (AFBS), Gwynyth Walsh (AFBS), Pauline Egan, Ferne Downey (AFBS) During an intimate and fun-filled ceremony at FriendsQuarters event space in Vancouver, Canada, Pauline accepted the Leslie Yeo Award for Volunteerism after being nominated by local Vancouver actor and friend, Mackenzie Gray. She received this award from AFBS for her activism and volunteerism both locally and globally, and several of her peers supported the nomination.
Pauline was given the option of how she would like to receive the award, so she decided to make it a fundraiser for FACE Africa. FACE Africa is a non-profit organization that brings sustainable clean water, sanitation and health education to remote communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Pauline has worked with this organization for the past 5.5 years, and previously worked with another organization for 4 years in East Africa. Her volunteer efforts have ranged from Battered Women's Support Services, Humanity Heroes, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cancer Counsel, Alzheimer's BC, Red Cross and many more. She was also a volunteer spearhead of the YEAA committee (Young Emerging Artists Committee) at UBCP, and has helped thousands of Australians immigrate to Vancouver and find work, housing and community through her facebook page Aussies In Vancouver. The event was generously sponsored by: Leith Wheeler Fund, AFBS, Legend Water, Truffles Fine Foods, World Centric, Steel & Oak Brewery, Sunbelt Rentals (formerly William F. White International).
